Easy Homemade Bread Recipe

This artisan bread features a crispy crust and a tender, airy crumb. The recipe takes about 3 hours from start to finish, including resting time, and makes one large loaf.
Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/4 teaspoons salt
- 1/2 teaspoon instant yeast
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- Additional flour for dusting
Instructions
- Mix the Dough: In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, and instant yeast. Add the warm water and stir until a shaggy dough forms.
- First Rise: Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a damp cloth and let it rest at room temperature for 2 hours, or until the dough has doubled in size.
- Shape the Dough: Lightly flour a clean surface and turn the dough out onto it. With floured hands, shape the dough into a ball. Let it rest for 15-30 minutes.
- Preheat the Oven: About 30 minutes before baking, place a Dutch oven (with the lid) in the oven and preheat to 450°F (232°C).
- Bake the Bread: Carefully remove the hot Dutch oven from the oven. Transfer the dough into the pot (you can use parchment paper for easier handling). Cover with the lid and bake for 30 minutes.
- Finish Baking: Remove the lid and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Cool: Let the bread cool on a wire rack for at least 30 minutes before slicing.
