Easy Chocolate Coated Popcorn Recipe

This chocolate coated popcorn is made by drizzling melted chocolate over freshly popped popcorn, then allowing it to set. The recipe takes about 30 minutes from start to finish and serves approximately 8 people.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup popcorn kernels (or 10 cups pre-popped popcorn)
- 1 cup chocolate chips (milk, dark, or white chocolate)
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (if popping kernels)
- 1/4 teaspoon salt (optional)
- 1/2 cup assorted toppings (like nuts, sprinkles, or sea salt, optional)
Instructions
- Pop the Popcorn: If using kernels, heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the popcorn kernels, cover, and shake the pot occasionally until popping slows. Remove from heat and transfer to a large bowl.
- Melt the Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth.
- Combine: Drizzle the melted chocolate over the popcorn and gently toss to coat evenly. If desired, sprinkle salt and any additional toppings over the coated popcorn.
- Set: Spread the chocolate coated popcorn on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Allow it to cool and set for about 15-20 minutes.
- Serve: Place popcorn in a beautiful oval shaped dish to resemble a football. We placed a football shaped cookie as a decoration.
